The small villages of Lierta and Sipán are situated at the foothills of the Central Spanish Pyrenees. Birding is already suburp from the terrace as eagles, griffon vultures and lammergeirs pass by regularly. Mediterranean birds can be found at few metres from the villages. You look at the highest peaks of the Exterior Sierras of the Pyrenees, Gratal (1,542 m) near Lierta and Guara (2,066 m) near Sipán. Footpath go into the hills and pass by small rivers, natural vegetation of holm oak and agriculture land.

The best birdwatching places from the Pyrenean foothills such as Riglos and the Sierra de Guara are close at hand and other famous areas are within a short distance. The distance to birding areas in the higher Pyrenees are: to Jaca is 73 km, to Hecho 96 km, to Formigal valley 69 km and to Torla (Ordesa) 94 km. The steppes of the Monegros to the south are from 49 km (Sariñena).

How do you reach Lierta and Sipán? By car you the route Calais – Paris – Bordeaux - Oloron – Canfranc – Huesca is 1287 km. There are many flights to Barcelona and with a rental car it is 276 km highway to Huesca. Ryan-Air flys daily from London Stansted to Zaragoza, at 72 km from Huesca.
